Veterans and their caregivers may be eligible for the Comprehensive Assistance Program for Family Caregivers. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has approved several states to offer structured family care, where family caregivers can be paid and receive additional supports.
We pay caregivers through state Medicaid programs to help cover part of the costs of providing full-time care. In addition to offering training and technical assistance to California caregiver resource centers, the FCA is home to the National Center on Caregiving (NCC). The NCC is a central source of information on issues related to caregiving and long-term care, and works to promote policies and programs for caregivers in every state in the country. This exemption can help cover the cost of home modifications, rehabilitation therapy, medical devices and the provision of care supervised at home.
