The Arizona Hospice and Palliative Care Organization offers information and resources on palliative and hospice care for patients, families and caregivers. The cost of this care can be deducted from the income of the person receiving the care, making it easier for them to not meet the income limit to qualify for this program. A veteran or surviving spouse who needs long-term care can receive a monthly cash allowance that they can use at their own discretion, including to pay for home care provided by family members other than their spouse. Then, the home care agency must pay for commercial liability insurance, personal liability insurance, and workers' compensation insurance. Payment for home care services is made through the HBCS Community and Home Services program and, through the HBCS program, caregivers are paid by a program contractor.
